The all-new second generation Honda Fit will go on sale in the States on August 26 with prices starting set at $14,550, plus a destination and handling charge of $670, for the basic version and at $16,060, plus destination and handling, for the better equipped Fit Sport. Both versions are powered by a new 117 HP 1.5-liter engine mated to either a standard 5-speed manual gearbox or an optional 5-speed automatic transmission which in the case of the Fit Sport also features steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters that allow manual gear selection. -Continued According to Honda, the Fit equipped with the automatic transmission achieves EPA economy ratings of 28 city /35 highway while the Fit with a manual transmission and Fit Sport with either a manual or the automatic transmission achieve an EPA city/highway fuel economy rating of 27/33 miles per gallon respectively. The basic Fit comes equipped with standard air conditioning, an MP3/CD audio system with four speakers and auxiliary audio input jack, power windows, mirrors and door locks. The Fit Sport adds alloy wheels, an underbody aero kit, rear roofline spoiler, fog lights, security system with keyless remote entry, cruise control and an upgraded audio system with six speakers, a five-mode equalizer and a USB Audio Interface. The Fit Sport is also available with a Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition.
