Bentley Opens its Crewe Headquarters to the Public with New Design Exhibition
0 comments Posted by wedos at 9:20 AM
If you're a petrol head and live in or are considering a trip to England, you may want to make plans to visit Bentley's headquarters in Crewe and check out a new design exhibition called "An Unbroken Line", which offers a rare glimpse inside the company's usually secret studios.
Furthermore, the exhibition also captures key moments of the company’s lineage with signature characteristics that define a Bentley to this day such as the positioning of the headlights, the use of inverted needles on the dashboard and the pronounced ‘powerlines’ that sweep down the flanks of the car.

Hot on the heels of the Ferrari 458 fire recall, here's some footage of a toasted Bentley Continental GT in Irkutsk, Eastern Siberia. Now, my Russian's a little weak, so if anyone could clarify these video reports that would be greeeeeaaaat.

Bentley Video Teases 2011 Continental GT Coupe Facelift, to be Revealed on September 7
0 comments Posted by wedos at 3:50 PM
We've been showing you spy pictures and videos of the upcoming 2011 Continental GT for quite some time now, but today Bentley launched a new microsite featuring a teaser film for the redesigned coupe that will have its online debut on September 7 and its public premiere at the Paris Motor Show at the end of the same month.
As well as confirming the Mulsanne-ish nose job with large LED inner headlamps flanked by smaller ancillary lights on each corner, the video also provides a brief glimpse of the interior and the revised center console featuring a new navigation and infotainment system. Expect similar changes for both the GTC convertible and four-door sedan members of the Continental family in the very near future. Watch the teaser video after the jump.

0 comments Posted by wedos at 7:43 AM
Bentley has dropped a new batch of images and driving footage (strangely enough, audio-less) of the new Continental Supersports Convertible shot on location in Colorado.
Unwrapped at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March, the soft-top version of the E85-compatible Continental Supersports coupé is said to be fastest convertible ever to roll out of Crewe's factory going from zero to 60mph in 3.9 seconds and topping out at 202mph (325km/h).

Ouch... Bentley Continental GT Bogged Down in Mud Bath [with Video]
0 comments Posted by wedos at 5:52 PM
There are some things you just don't do with a $250,000 luxury sports car; for example, you do not attempt to plow through a farm road full of mud as if you were driving a John Deer tractor. Unfortunately, the Russian owner of this Bentley Continental GT learned his lesson the hard, costly -and worst of all- hugely embarrassing way.
Complete photo gallery and a rather entertaining video of the Bentley and the amazing jumping mud-man who didn't care less about the fate of the British GT, or anything else, for that matter, [you'll see what we mean...] after the jump.

Bentley is continuing its efforts to drum up attention for its new Mulsanne limo, this time with the release of a three minute long film shot on location in Edinburgh and the Scottish borders.
Set to replace the Arnage, the British firm's flagship model is motivated by a twin-turbocharged 6¾-litre V8 churning out 512 horsepower and a massive peak torque of 1020 Nm / 752 lb ft. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a new eight-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted gearshifts. Watch the video after the jump.

VIDEO: Bentley Continental and Maybach 62 Scrape Sides in Russia
0 comments Posted by wedos at 7:28 PM
Whilst this incident isn't in way serious - thankfully, it's not every day that you see a Bentley Continental and a Maybach 62 scraping sides (or ends, we can't tell with certainty from the video). According to the Russian media, the accident happened somewhere in Moscow when the driver of the Bentley lost control of the car due the slippery conditions of the road. More pics and video after the break.
Thanks for the tip Allen!

At the Frankfurt Motor Show this week, Bentley showed its all-new Mulsanne, the nameplate's all-new flagship grand tourer that is powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that manages to produce a 'healthy' output of 508 horsepower and a whopping of 1020Nm or 752 lb-ft of torque. We've already showed you live photos of the glizty sedan, but now the British brand has released new videos of the Mulsanne including footage from its Frankfurt stand as well as a promotional film and a video of the car in motion. Check them out right after the jump.

As well as performing the world premiere of the brand-new 2011 Mulsanne at this weekend's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, California, Bentley also auctioned the first example of its 'uber' (let's not forget the car's VW Group roots...) luxurious flagship sedan at the Gooding & Company auction with chassis No1 being sold to an unnamed buyer for $500,000. The Mulsanne will replace the Arnage in Bentley's automobile range with sales set to begin in the summer of 2010.
Thanks for the tip Ecneli!

2010 Grand Bentley to Debut at Pebble Beach in August - New Teaser Video
0 comments Posted by wedos at 7:32 AM
Bentley officially confirmed today that the successor to the Arnage limo will be revealed (and named) at the Pebble Beach Concours D' Elegance in Monterey, California, on August 16. The Crewe-based automaker that is celebrating its 90th anniversary today said that the new flagship model will signal "a new era in British luxury motoring". Even though Bentley remains secretive about its Rolls Royce Phantom rival, a series of photographs that were shot inside the factory gave us our first glimpse of the vehicles exterior design. You can see those photos here.

Being in the auto biz, we're obliged to take a look at all official videos released by automakers even if we're almost certain that it's going to be a complete waste of our time. But that doesn't mean that you have to go through the ordeal of hearing that annoying piano-music for the fourth time on Bentley's latest teaser video for the Arnage replacement, so do yourself a favor and just ignore this post...

In another pointless teaser video on the forthcoming Arnage replacement - currently called the 'Grand Bentley', the British automaker tells us that they are "the opposite of mass production". You don't say... I suppose the next video will inform us that Bentleys roll on four wheels and that they cost more than you or I can ever afford. Seriously now, someone has to tell automakers that this is getting ridiculous.

New Grand Bentley: Teaser Image and Video of Arnage Replacement
0 comments Posted by wedos at 5:24 AMAfter a little more than a decade, Bentley will replace its top-of-the-line Arnage with an all new model that is currently being called by the company 'new grand Bentley'. The British firm issued a rather cryptic teaser photo along with short video of the Arnage's successor ahead of the luxury sedan's official debut that's scheduled for late summer 2009. Aimed squarely at the Rolls Royce Phantom, the 'new grand Bentley' that will sit atop of the four-door Continental in the firm's sedan range, has been designed, engineered and (will be) built in Crewe, England.
Information is still scarce though there has been talk of a modified version of the Audi A8's spaceframe chassis as well as an updated range of engines that could very well include a Flex-Fuel variant capable of running on either petrol and E85 biofuel or any combination of the two, but all for now, all this is pure speculation. Stay tuned on Carscoop for more details.

While the new teaser video of Bentley's forthcoming bio-fueled supercar that's scheduled to be officially revealed in Geneva does not provide us with any performance data, it does confirm that the mystery model will be based on the Continental GT and that it will be powered by a 12-cylinder engine. According to Bentley, the yet unnamed model will be the company's fastest and most powerful production car ever. Follow the jump to watch the video.
