2011 Ford F-Series Super (Duper) Duty with New Gasoline and Diesel V8 Engines
Posted by wedos at 1:30 PMFord chose the Texas State Fair (surprise, surprise...) today to unveil its new, larger than life, 2011 F-Series Super Duty pickup truck model. Nestled behind that obnoxiously massive chrome grille is a new 6.2-liter V8 flexfuel gasoline engine that can run on regular-grade gasoline, E85 or any blend in between. Customers may also opt for a new, Ford-engineered and -built 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel engine. The company has yet to disclose power figures for either engine.
The new V8 units are coupled to an also new 6R140 heavy-duty TorqShift six-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift manual capability.
Ford says that the new pickup truck features increased towing and payload capability as well as improved ride, handling and steering feel over the outgoing Super Duty model.
"The 2011 Super Duty offers the widest array of solutions for the widest array of heavy-duty work truck customers," said Chris Brewer, chief engineer. "The Super Duty lineup offers a variety of body styles and powertrains, from diesel and gasoline engines, each with a new six-speed transmission, to pickup trucks and chassis cabs, each with the towing and payload capabilities that define Super Duty."
