Eyewitness Update on the Ferrari F430 Spider vs Taxi Cab Incident
0 comments Posted by wedos at 7:04 AM
Yesterday, we told you about a recent Las Vegas incident involving the drivers of a Ferrari F430 Spider and a yellow taxicab. In our original story, we wrote that the cabbie “allegedly rear-ended” the Italian exotic. It turns out though that there was no collision between the two cars with the Ferrari driver exploding simply because the cabbie cut him off.
Patrick Fritz, the person who filmed the video outside of Fry's Electronics, came in contact with Carscoop and detailed the events that eventually led to the Ferrari driver punching the cabbie.
Here’s what Patrick told Carscoop:
“I saw this altercation from the very beginning. The Ferrari was trying to leave the Fry's Electronics parking lot as the Taxi driver pulled in front of him, cutting him off. The Ferrari driver was pissed that he got cut off. There was NO collision.Read more »The Ferrari driver then peeled out as he drove up past the cab and stopped in front of him and began yelling at him for "driving like an a$$hole". Then the Ferrari driver got out of his vehicle and approached the cab driver. That's the beginning of the video.”

Ferrari F430 Spider Owner Attacks Cab Driver for Cutting Him Off [*Updated]
0 comments Posted by wedos at 7:30 AM
A sad tale of road rage between the driver of a red Ferrari F430 Spider and a Taxi Cab driver took place in front of the parking lot of an electronics store in Las Vegas recently.
Story has it that the cabbie allegedly rear-ended the Italian supercar, but did not cause any significant damage to the vehicle – or at least non that can be seen in this amateur video that was filmed after the two cars parked on the side of the road.
Unfortunately, instead of exchanging information, the driver of the Ferrari was in the mood for some talking with his…fists. We can’t hear all that was said between the two men, but it looks like the only person going overboard here was the F430 driver. Watch the video right after the break.

Toyota Corolla vs Ferrari F430: Can You Guess Who Wins this Race?
0 comments Posted by wedos at 8:04 AM
Pitting a puny stock Toyota Corolla against a Ferrari F430 and asking which car would win in a straight line race sounds like a joke, right? Well, under any other circumstances, you would be right to take this as a shaggy dog story but this comparo, which was made for a Japanese TV show, has a peculiar twist to it: the race was run in reverse gear… So, now that you know, can you pick the winner? Enjoy the quirky drag race between the Corolla sedan and Maranello’s supercar in the video clip after the break.

James Glickenhaus’ Ferrari P4/5 Competizione Starts Taking Shape
0 comments Posted by wedos at 1:48 PM
In 2006, American car collector James Glickenhaus took the world by surprise with his Enzo-based one-off Ferrari P4/5, built by Pininfarina. In the meantime, Mr. Glickenhaus decided to build a race version, too, dubbed P4/5 Competizione, which, initially, was scheduled to make its racing debut at this year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Unfortunately, that never happened.
However, we're happy to report that the build is still underway. And there’s more: thanks to an update on a dedicated Facebook page, we can show you pictures depicting key moments of the assembly, available after the jump.

Even though it's an unfortunate situation to be in, we hope for the owner's sake that the reason why these men put are pushing and pulling this Ferrari F430 Spider has to do with the snow and the frozen roads, and not something relevant to the story line of the "Gone in 60 Seconds" film... After Pininfarina presented the New Stratos to the car's owner Michael Stoschek, the Italian design house invited Ferrari head-honcho Luca di Montezemelo to take it for a spin around the Fiorano circuit in Maranello.
According to the project's official website, Mr. di Montezemolo was very impressed with the New Stratos, openly praising it with exclamations such as "bellissima" and "congratulazioni". And that's not all, as the Ferrari CEO called his technical director, Roberto Fedeli, and suggested he should also take a look at the car.

So the story goes that YouTube member "Marchettino" flew shotgun in his mate's Ferrari 430 Scuderia at some sort of invitation only track day for Ferraristas. Speaking of which, there's a nice selection of Maranello muscle there. I think I saw (and correct me if I'm wrong) two 430s (white and red), a red 360, a black 458 Italia, a red 599 and a silver 575 M. Man, my Jealous-O-Meter is at like 11 right now.
Where are my friends with their Ferrari 430 Scuderias and Monza track days? The best I can hope for is a ride around the McDonald's parking lot in a rust-coloured Datsun 280ZX with a faulty clutch. No wonder I'm so cynical.

The Wedding Crashers: Lamborghini Murcielago Smashes Into Ferrari F430 at South African Reception
0 comments Posted by wedos at 10:47 AM
In the well-known Hollywood comedy, divorce mediators and life-long friends John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Grey (Vince Vaughn) had a weird hobby of crashing weddings to meet single women.
But in this real-life South African parody, the two drivers of the Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Murcielago took the term "wedding crashers" a bit too literally as they somehow managed to crash into each other during a VIP wedding reception at a sports club in the town of Eshowe.
According to local news sites, the drivers of the two cars are Romeo Mbambo, said to be a former IFP hitman, and a man known only as ND Sibiya.
While the two men escaped injuries, witnesses at the scene claim that the drivers became aggravated when people started to take pictures of the cars, and allegedly assaulted one man, threatened a local journalist and seized mobile phones with cameras.
Apparently, they didn't succeed too well in hiding the incident from the press...

The expensive drop off was caught on camera by the helicopter news crew of Skyfox. Watch the video and weep for the Prancing Horse model after the jump.

Ever wonder what's the procedure for wrapping a car in vinyl film? Well here's your chance to see a Ferrari F430 receiving a matte black makeover by Creative FX, a company that specializes in vinyl wrappings. What impressed us the most and at the same time gave us a scare, is the skillful use of a regular box cutter to remove the excess pieces of vinyl by the firm's employees - can you imagine being the owner of the Ferrari and seeing someone knifing out your car? Joining the insane 827HP Porsche 911 GT2 Speed at Wimmer RS's booth at the 2009 Essen Motor Show is the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, a subtly tuned version of the F430 Spider model. Performance modifications include a power pack that comprises of an upgraded ECU and a hand-built, sport exhaust system featuring remote controlled valves that allow the driver to choose between a nearly stock and racing note from the quad tail pipes.
The kit slightly boosts the 4.3-liter V8's power from 490HP to 528HP with Wimmer RS announcing the Italian thoroughbred goes from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in a claimed 3.84 seconds, to 200km/h (124mph) in 11.03 seconds and to 300km/h (187mph) within 34.9 seconds.

The German firm's sport package also includes a KW HLS suspension system that allows the front-end of the car to be lifted by 45mm at a push of a button to safely navigate obstacles such as parking ramps or speed bumps without damaging the vehicle.
The tuner finished the package with 19-inch lightweight alloy rims from BBS shod in 225/35 R19 Dunlop tires up front and 305/30 R19 tires at the rear.

Novitec Rosso Pays Tribute to the Ferrari 430 Scuderia with 747HP Edizione Special
0 comments Posted by wedos at 12:57 PM
Sooner or later, Ferrari will present a successor to the outgoing 430 Scuderia with a similar no-compromise lightweight version of the 458 Italia, but until then, German tuning firm Novitec Rosso decided to pay homage to the Italian supercar with a specially tuned model called Edizione 747. At the heart of the car lies a heavily modified version of the naturally-aspirated 4.3-liter V8 that produces 510HP and 470Nm of torque in stock form.
With the help of a twin-supercharger, new software for the ECU and various other upgrades, Novitec Rosso boosts the V8's output to 747 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 738 Nm at 6,300 rpm.
So equipped, it takes the Edizione 747 less than 3.4 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100km/h (62 mph) and 9.4 seconds to 200 km/h (124 mph), while the Italian supercar go on to achieve a top speed of 351 km/h or 218 mph.
Novitec Rosso says that the Edizione 747 comes equipped with a new intercooling system that features its own dedicated water circuit while the firm's engineers have also developed a special underbody with integrated air deflector to optimize supply of cooling air to the engine bay.
A set of sport springs that lower the ride height of the Ferrari by some 30 millimeters and the three-piece 20-inch NF3 double-spoke alloys fitted with Michelin Pilot Cup sport tires in sizes 245/30 ZR 20 at the front and 315/25 ZR 20 at the back complete the performance upgrades.
Buyers may also choose to fit the Edizione 747 with an optional hydraulic lift system for the front axle that raises the car's height by 40mm at the push of a button to safely navigate parking ramps, low curbs and speed bumps.
On the outside, Novitec Rosso's treatment includes a two-tone special matte yellow and grey paintjob complemented by darkened taillights, side markers and reflectors.
Upon customer request the tuner can equip the coupe with a matching two-tone interior while other options include a new steering wheel dressed in a combination of leather and carbon-fiber as well as carbon-fiber shift paddles.
