Back in the mid-1990s, Volkswagen’s designers came up with a bright idea (literally…) involving the Polo supermini and the colorful theatrical character Harlequin. The result was the Polo Harlekin or Harlequin featuring a multi-colored body. Against all odds, the strange looking Polo proved to be a moderate success with Volkswagen boosting the initial production run from 1,000 cars to a total of around 3,800 units.

Apparently, the allure of a multicolored car isn’t limited to the masses as the owner of this Rolls Royce Phantom proves. According to the team over at Autogespot, it belongs to a UK resident named Alan who happens to own a number of exotic supercars including a Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Roadster, Pagani Zonda F Roadster and a Spyker C8 Spyder.

Rolls Royce will be showcasing a one-off, fully electric powered Phantom at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2011. The British automaker said the car will serve as a working test bed to explore the feasibility of battery-powered Rolls Royce models in the near future.

“We have engineered the world’s first battery electric vehicle for the ultra-luxury segment,” said CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, speaking from the company’s headquarters in Goodwood. “With this vehicle, we begin an exploration into alternative drive-trains, seeking clarity on which alternative technologies may be suitable to drive Rolls-Royce motor cars of the future.”

This custom monstrosity of a Rolls Royce Phantom replica is based on one of the last elegant BMW 7-Series models, the late 1980s-early 1990s E32, and was found for sale on a Polish used car website. There are so many things wrong with the build that we don't know where to start, but the flashy Rolls Royce sticker on the steering wheel could take the prize for being the worst item on the car...

The Phantom clown clone is built on a V12-powered 750i with the seller asking a laughable €56,653 (around US$75,500 at today's exchange rates) for the car. More photos after the break.

Adding to very long list of Chrysler 300 models turned into Rolls Royce or Bentley clones that we've shown you over the past few years is this two-tone burgundy-goldish example, which is said to have been snagged in the city of Tangier in Morocco by a reader of the Autogespot forums. If you have a knack for everything automotive and a few thousand dollars to spare (and no wife to complain..), then you ought to take a look at this 'royal' couch inspired from the Rolls Royce Phantom. The two seater sofa comes complete with a set of wheels and a normal trunk, although we would advise you to avoid using it as a... baby cradle as suggested by the photos. Just like any other product, armored cars have to pass rigorous tests to make sure they deliver what they promise - even if that means destroying a six-figure vehicle like the Rolls Royce Phantom during the process. In what looks like a real life 'shootem up' video is in fact a ballistic test performed by Mutec which is a German coach builder that specializes on armored vehicles. Tuners are leaving no stone unturned these harsh economic times in their pursuit to make a buck or two. And what better candidates for some extra cash than the Rolls Royce Phantom limo and its convertible offspring, the Phantom Drophead Coupe. Though Hamann Motorsports has yet to disclose something official, these photos made their way into the net revealing the two cars. Aside from the massive 23-inch alloy wheels that are available in various designs, we didn't any other exterior changes on the Phantoms. A photograph of the interior though reveals that the German tuner has developed a new three spoke sport steering wheel for both models.

This is so wrong, in so many ways that we've lost count. But admittedly it is comically hilarious. Actually it's probably the most ridiculous transformation of a Hummer we've seen to date. Now, why on earth would someone perform a Rolls Royce Phantom-like face transplant on an Hummer H2 is beyond logical comprehension. We'll just leave it at that...

If by any chance you were wondering whether or not this year's Shanghai Auto Show that runs from April 20 to 28 will host any new Chinese clones, BYD Auto with its Lexus RX doppelganger and now Geely with its new "Phantomized" GE limo, leave few doubts to as what we should be expecting to see at the motorshow.

Among the army of new cars and concept studies that Geely is preparing to bring to Shanghai is the GE, a proposal for a high-end limousine that looks like the outcome of a 10-year-old designing a Rolls-Royce Phantom. However, unlike the British luxury sedan, the 5.3-meter long GE does not get suicide rear doors while weirdly enough, the car's interior has a 2+1 seating arrangement, with the rear passenger getting the royal treatment.

With inspiration coming from the Phantom Drophead Coupe (convertible) and the Phantom Coupe, Rolls Royce revealed the 2009 Model Year Phantom and Phantom Extended Wheelbase. The facelifted Phantom limos are distinguished on the outside by a new streamlined front bumper that has been designed and integrated with a shallower grille, finished in stainless steel. Other new exterior features include LED door handle illumination and the fitting of 21-inch cast alloy wheels as standard.
