General Motors is celebrating the Saab Convertible's 25th birthday for the second time this year with the launch of the 9-3 Convertible Special Edition that comes out a few months after the 'Yellow Edition'. The 25th Anniversary model will be unveiled at the LA Auto Show which opens to the public on November 22. The new version of the drop-top 9-3 is equipped with Saab's 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that can be matched to six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions. Customers can choose from three available metallic colors -Jet Black, Carbon Grey and the new Bright Champagne.

If you're wondering what makes this Saab so special, the Americanized Swedes claim that the anniversary model is influenced by the 9-3 Turbo X in terms of the design of the front bumper and steering wheel as well as by the carbon fiber interior finishes and black floor mats with grey binding. Like the Aero version, the Special Edition model also sports dual exhaust pipes, an anthracite grey bumper insert and five-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels.

Expect to see the 'not-so-special-as-Saab-wants-it-to-be' 9-3 Convertible in dealer showrooms in early January 2009 with prices starting from $ 46,725.
