No Really, this is a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider and it's Powered by a Subaru Turbo Boxer!
0 comments Posted by wedos at 5:05 PM
Don't let the Nissan 350Z snout and the Infiniti G35 Coupe (JDM Nissan Skyline V35) rear end design fool you; the glitzy painted roadster model you're gawking at is in fact a JDM Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider - possibly a third generation model. But before you try to digest all that info let us quickly add that Paint Star's Tokyo Auto Salon project car also hides a Subaru-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four engine under its 350Z-shaped hood. See the rest of the photos in our image gallery after the break.

While we're still trying to find out if Infiniti's freshly sketched dedicated EV (see here) will make its debut at next week's 2010 Mondial de l'Automobile, here's an Infiniti concept that has been confirmed for the show. The Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) G Cabrio Concept is the second car to wear the Japanese firm's sporty IPL badge after the introduction of the G Coupé in North America in the summer.

Access Evolution Dips the Nissan Skyline / Infiniti G37 in Charcoal

Jon Sibal, in what appears to be a wheel search for a new Challenger 'chop (can't wait) has some pics of this JDM Nissan Skyline V36, or as we know it here in the States, the Infiniti G37, done-to-to-the-bone by Access Evolution. Those spider webs inside the tires are Forgiatto GTRs, and they're not getting any love from anybody...except me. They look like they belong on a futuristic sports car, but certainly look nice on the Skyline.

Infiniti is taking all the new car headlines at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance show. Along with the presentation of the 348HP kitted-out G Coupe from the firm's new IPL performance division, Infiniti used the event to announce the introduction of a new entry level model in the G sedan range, the G25 equipped with a 2.5-liter V6 engine under the hood.
It will join the rest of the Infiniti models in showrooms this September with prices starting from $30,950 (before handling and destination fees), or $2,300 less than the more powerful G37 sedan.

2011 Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) G Coupe with 348HP Officially Revealed
0 comments Posted by wedos at 12:33 PM
Not to be confused with the Indian Premier League (cricket), the Indianapolis Power Light company, the Internet Public Library or the Iran Premier League (football), IPL in the automotive world will now be known as an acronym for Infiniti's newly formed performance division, "Infiniti Performance Line" and the G Coupe will be its first production model.
So, is IPL something in the lines of BMW's M division, Mercedes' AMG or Audi's RS (Quattro)? Well, simply put, that's not the case, at least for now. Think of IPL being more like BMW's M-Sport packages with some added grunt under the hood.
The first vehicle from the range is the 2011 IPL G Coupe that debuts tomorrow evening at a special event at the 60th annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and goes on sale only in the States in December.

Rumors: Next Infiniti M and G May Share Platform with Mercedes E-Class
0 comments Posted by wedos at 10:47 AM
There has been a lot of talk lately about the recently inked strategic cooperation between Daimler AG and the Renault-Nissan Alliance. And we're not referring to the official agreements on the development of a new rear-wheel drive platform for small cars and the swapping of diesel and petrol engines between the two groups.
Leaving aside recent rumors of a small Infiniti CUV based on the next generation of Mercedes' A / B Class, Japan's Best Car magazine is now reporting in its latest issue that the Infiniti M and G replacements (Nissan Fuga and Skyline in Japan) will share a common architecture with the Mercedes E-Class.

Infiniti said to Offer G25 with Smaller 2.5-liter V6 in the States to Compete with BMW 328i and Lexus IS250
0 comments Posted by wedos at 8:14 AM
The team over at Inside Line is reporting that it has learned from an unnamed high-ranking source within Nissan that Infiniti will launch a new entry-level version of its 2011 G sedan equipped with a smaller displacement V6 engine in the U.S. this fall. According to the report, the North American Infiniti G25 will be powered by the same 2.5-liter V6 unit found in the sedan's JDM sibling, the Nissan Skyline.
In the Skyline 250GT sedan, the VQ25HR is rated at 225 horsepower (IL says 210HP, but Nissan announces 225HP) and 26.8 kgm or 193.8 lb-ft of torque.
This means that the Japanese V6 is slightly less powerful than the BMW 328i's 3/0-liter inline-six that generates 230HP and 200 lb-ft inline, but stronger than the Lexus IS250's 2.5-liter V6 with 204HP and 185 lb-ft, who are the G25's most closest rivals.
The report goes on to say that for the time being, the smaller V6 is planned only for the sedan and not the Coupe or hardtop Convertible variants of the G Series.
